Conclusion

As digital culture progresses forward, JIGs will continue to be created by the ‘public,’ including both amateurs and professionals. By producing creative work in new forms, these participatory cultures allow for engagement between audience and creators across social media platforms, like Tumblr and Twitter. Communities within these platforms are acquiring knowledge and informally learning from one another through reposting and posting comments. The audience is given the opportunity to re-express the content using their own creativity and further build upon its meaning. By re-composing and building upon someones ideas, digital rhetoric is redefined through the production of JIFs. This new form of digital media has changed the dynamics of writing, where the message is expressed more effectively than could just words. JIFs will continue to recompose within social media platforms forming a new form of digital culture.
